Welcome Discomfort
This is a personal mantra and an effort to transform my relationship with discomfort. I observed that in a number of case, my aversion to discomfort has been a hindrance for me in various contexts. I have sometimes procrastinated to avoid having to deal with a difficult or unclear task. I have skipped workouts for no better reason than to stay comfortable in the moment. I have not approached people or asked for things because I was worried of a socially uncomfortable situation.
I've written about this here: My tenets | Romans Blog and have since changed the phrase from "Tolerate Discomfort" to "Welcome Discomfort" because Language Creates Reality and welcome, while not being enthusiastic, is a more positive framing than tolerate, which to me carries connotations of adversity.
